The Indian pharmaceutical industry is the third largest in the world in terms of volumes and 14th in terms of value with revenue of over USD 20 Billion of which the domestic market is about USD 12 Billion. At a growth rate of about 8 to 9% annually the total market is expected to reach between USD 50 to 70 Billion by 2020. While the industry is fairly established in the manufacturing segment, dominated by large multinational & domestic manufacturers, there is a need for more organized players providing distribution & business solutions. Although compared to various industries in India, it is one of the most organized sectors, outdated processes and lack of visibility through the supply chain impede efficiencies and add significant costs.
